Tatum's Treehouse
& MCGives

Carmel Valley Community Youth Center is incredibly honored to announce that it has been accepted into the fundraising campaign for Monterey County Gives! This campaign has the potential to provide a financial boost towards our goal of building and maintaining an inclusive playground: Tatum’s Treehouse. In November 2024 we began our Community Build of this inclusive playground and have been blown away by the meaningful connections and memories made so far!

#MCGives encourages local businesses, foundations, and individual donors to help contribute to an overall match fund that directly supports the participating organizations of your choice. In early November, a special print edition of the Monterey County Weekly will highlight CVCYC’s mission and our ‘Big Idea’ proposal. We know you have many choices regarding the nonprofits you support and we appreciate your consideration.

This is the CVCYC's biggest project ever, and we are incredibly excited to see this come to fruition for children of all abilities. Please consider donating to help build a better tomorrow! The MCGives campaign is now live, see the donate button below!

Only the second fully accessible playground in Monterey County, Tatum's Treehouse will feature an all-volunteer-build model that will engage community members and families. Like Tatum's Garden in Salinas, Tatum's Treehouse will provide inclusive play opportunities for all youth in Monterey County and the surrounding areas.  Our two organizations aim to transform the existing, decades-old playground into a safe, fun space for all children to feel welcomed and included. This is the CVCYC's biggest project ever, and we are incredibly excited to see this come to fruition for children of all abilities.

As there are several rural communities in and around Monterey County’s Carmel Valley, the Foundation strongly felt the current park near the pool was a good location for an accessible playground. While CVCYC will be taking the lead on this project, the Tatum’s Garden Foundation board will provide their expertise on park design, community involvement, fundraising, and volunteer efforts to assist in bringing the park to fruition.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Carmel Valley Community Youth Center on this amazing project. Our mission is to cultivate accessible, inclusive play, and this project fits perfectly with it. We look forward to bringing accessible play to families throughout Monterey County,” says Amanda Bakker, President of the Tatum’s Garden Foundation.
